its true. this polka dot chambray is soft and comfy and i pretty much could wear it everyday. no matter how long i have had it. with the weather warming up i will swap my denim jacket for the chambray every time.

when i heard about the company juniorbeads, i was so intrigued. jewlery that is super safe for kids and since it is made of 100% silicone even my boys won’t break it.
they even have jewlery for moms that is safe for their babies to chew on. say what? not only are their necklaces great for a teething baby they have a break away clasp and the colors are worthy of any mama’s wardrobe. can’t tell you how many necklaces i have lost because i took them off in the middle of a drooly teething session with my bebes.
and the colors? oh the colors are so so good.
here she is headed out the door for school…as soon as she is done coloring. which is never. ever.

one of my old coworkers and friends, lisa, recently emailed me to ask what my picks for work this spring and summer would be.
an architect’s wardrobe must be versatile. all in one day you can go from drawing plans in the office to meeting with a client to taking field measurements and talking to contractors. working on job sites requires sensible shoes while still being current and on trend.
here are my picks.
1. white or cream blazer – quickly makes any outfit more put together. (under $30 here, love this linen version)
2. blouse – this color block blouse is a fresh alternative to a plain white button up and will look great with the floral skirt and the color pants.
3. stud earrings – classic colors with an edgy shape
4. floral skirt - throw this on with a tank and sandals on the weekend.
5. leather tote – lisa has to carry a clipboard, pens, pencils, measuring tape and a camera to job sites. when meeting with clients often drawings and sample materials must accompany her. this bag is big enough to fit them all and you can wipe the dirt right off afterwards. (i also like this one and this one.)
6. pink pants – i love the idea of a bright pant for spring and summer. here in california we don’t wear a lot of black in the summer so these are an unexpected color with a tailored professional shape.
7. wedge – these wedges easily work from the office to the job site. the last thing you want on a job site is heels while you are walking up unfinished stairs with no railing. (love this one and i HAVE to get these with fringe and love the green in this wedge)
8. stripe skirt – classic but pair with patterns to easily play with the pattern on pattern trend. this skirt makes it so easy.
9. gold smoking loafers – love these with a cropped pant (under $100, under $60)
10. ikat top – light, colorful and pretty.

so if you have been reading for a while you saw this post and know how i feel about taking pictures of myself. it ain’t easy. i am much more comfortable behind the camera then in front.
it is hard to put yourself out there. open up your soul to the, often times, harsh criticism of others.
what will people think? that i am arrogant? that i think i am all knowing? who knows. but i have to trust in the people who love and support me and have asked and asked if i would share what I wear.

ruby is easy. she doesn’t take much entertaining. she creates and imagines worlds all her own. and when it comes to the side of our house that very deep imagination comes in handy.
she and myes jimmy rigged a rope swing out of fireplace wood and thing rope .
they swing from it everyday.
